Bamboos are some of the fastest-growing plants in the world, and are part of the grass family. Bamboos are of notable economic and cultural significance in South Asia, and East Asia, being used for building materials, as a food source, and as a versatile raw product. Bamboo has a higher compressive strength than wood, brick or concrete and a tensile strength that rivals steel.
This project is intended to experiment with the types of products that can be made with bamboo. Using a compressed processed version of this plant, a mitered top opening box with inset internal rim was created.
This box measures: 200mm Long 80mm Wide 60mm Deep
Treated with bees wax to bring out the shine of the material, this product has a unique quality that show both the long grain and the end gain on each face.
